Sundays 6:00am UTC | June 7 – July 26 | 8 sessions | Live Zoom + recordings
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are yoga’s foundational guide to the mind, body, and spirit, yet their depth is often lost in contemporary practice. This course offers serious students a rare opportunity to engage with these classical teachings through original Sanskrit, Iyengar’s interpretive insight, and embodied application.
Under the guidance of Dr. Agi Wittich, scholar of Indology and longtime Iyengar practitioner and teacher, participants will explore how Patanjali’s sutras speak to both timeless philosophical truths and practical, transformative yoga practice. The course emphasizes an integrated approach: ethics, asana, breath, concentration, and meditation are studied as interconnected steps on the path to inner clarity and liberation.

Threads of Patanajli’s Wisdom II – Advanced Online course
The Advanced Threads of Patanajli’s Wisdom course
is an eight-session deep dive into the Yoga Sūtras, built for students who already have a foundation in the text and want to go further, into the more philosophically dense terrain: kleśas, guṇas, conditioning, siddhis, and kaivalya.
Each session pairs the sūtras themselves with a three-perspective method: Vyāsa’s classical commentary, Iyengar’s embodied and devotional reading, and contemporary scholarship (Bryant, Feuerstein, Bachman, O’Brien-Kop) in conversation with both.
The course moves from Kriyā Yoga through the full arc to Kaivalya:
- Kriyā Yoga — the yoga of action
- Īśvara — the special puruṣa and devotion
- Tapas — the fire of discipline
- The three guṇas and pariṇāma — qualities and transformation
- Pratyāhāra and saṃyama — the inner turn and integrated technique
- Citta vikṣepas, karma, vāsanās, and saṃskāras — overcoming conditioning
- Vibhūtis and siddhis — powers as byproducts, held with ethical grounding
- Samādhi and kaivalya — integrated freedom
Each session includes guiding and reflection questions, and the course builds directly on Threads in Patañjali’s Wisdom, moving from foundational engagement into deeper study.
