We closed the second cohort of Threads in Patañjali’s Wisdom with a session devoted entirely to integration, pulling together everything the course explored, from citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ through abhyāsa and vairāgya, āsana and prāṇāyāma as paths toward samādhi, the kleśas, and the seer and the seen.
The session also included a handful of real questions that came up during the course, from participants who had already done the work and ran straight into the text’s genuine edges. Is samādhi something you enter and leave, or is kaivalya a permanent shift with no return? Why does a philosophy built on godless Sāṅkhya leave room, mid-text, for devotion to Īśvara? What actually separates a passing fluctuation of mind from a rooted affliction? I left these open rather than resolved, the way they were left with me.
Watch the recording:
How well do you know Iyengar’s teachings on Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras?
Before you watch, or after, test yourself. This isn’t a measure of memorization. It’s an invitation to notice where these teachings currently live for you, through Iyengar’s lens specifically. Some questions are direct. Others sit deeper, layered enough to make you pause. Takes about 10 to 12 minutes.
